“Kiriga Estate is located in Murang’a County in Central Kenya. The farm is family owned and managed by farmer Brian Gakunga. The coffee plants, mainly SL varieties, are between 50 and 70 years old. His grandfather was the chief of Murang’a County and planted one of the first coffee seedlings in the region. Aloysius Gakunga, Brian’s father, helped and developed the dream of owning one of the farms then run by colonial settlers as a child. Several years passed before he realized his dream in 1976. When his father died in 2014, he took over the farm as the second oldest of six children and has since specialized exclusively in producing the finest specialty coffees.”
