Intense citrus aroma. Rich of berry compote sweetness, floral characteristics, and dulce de leche finish.
Chelchele is a sweet, juicy, and complex coffee from the Yirgacheffe region in Ethiopia. It has rich floral characteristics that we all love from Ethiopian coffees with amazing flavor notes that remind us of mixed berry compote and orange, with a citrus overtone and long dulce de leche finish.
This coffee is from the Chelchele village in the Kochere district, in the Yirgacheffe region. Coffees from this region tend to have the sweetness of toffee, with floral and citrus characteristics.
Most of the Ethiopian coffees, including those from the Chelchele region, are grown on very small plots of land by farmers who also grow another crop. During the harvest season, the farmers sell their coffee cherries to the local washing station or central processing unit, where the cherries are sorted, blended, and processed. It’s common for washing stations to receive cherries from thousands of small farmers, which makes it extremely difficult to trace which farms the coffees are coming from.
Chelchele is incredibly juicy, sweet, and complex. With a carefully crafted roast profile, we discover other flavor nuances such as orange, sweet lime, ripe strawberry, and sugary characteristics in both filter and espresso brewing.
Enjoy your Chelchele.
