BRAZIL Serra Do Cigano – Espresso

Good for Espresso

Package size, g: 250, 1000

The name Serra Do Cigano refers to both the wet mill where this coffee was processed and the valley in which it sits. Its meaning is the Valley of Gypsies, a moniker given to it in the 19th century when it was used as a camping site for families who traveled across the region.

The mill is used by the families who grow their plants across the valley, which have historically been geared toward mass production of low-grade coffee. Ever since 2008, when the team at Fazenda Ambiental Fortaleza started working with the local Dos Santos family (which includes our friend Joáo Hamilton), the focus has shifted towards sustainable, eco-friendly, and high-quality coffee production. They cultivate delicious coffees, clean water, and healthy and fertile soils. At the center of all this is the aim to create healthy living and protected ecosystems.
