What do you see in coffee stains? by Janya Artyanes

“What do you see in coffee stains?”

Spill your coffee on a piece of paper and try to see what it is saying to you. Pay attention even to the smallest stains and your imagination will create something truly unique.

Coffee on cotton paper, 21cm x 21 cm

Detailed description

Both artworks are created in the “coffee stains” technique, which means tracing over spilled coffee after the stains are fully dry. Coffee is an interesting media, it’s similar to watercolor but much more transparent. To create dark tones you will have to layer coffee on many times.

Both artworks were so curious to create! The task is forcing your imagination and creativity to go on a completely new level. The process is accompanied by a coffee scent, which was amazing for such a coffee lover as me.
